Is Software Solved? Introduction

Is Software Solved? is a public index that tries to answer, with data instead of opinions, whether AI agents can now build, deploy and maintain software with few or no people. It turns 49 public data sources into 28 signals, such as AI token prices, SWE-bench Verified scores, GitHub pushes, pull requests opened by coding agents, job openings, outages and security holes, and groups them under four questions. Each signal shows its latest value, its change over a year and a trend line, and together they make one headline score, which read 33% solved when we checked. A How it works page explains how the sources become the score, every source is credited, and the numbers are available as plain JSON files with no key or sign-up, plus an llms.txt file. It was built by Dmytro Krasun, who also runs the ScreenshotOne screenshot API, and he launched it on Hacker News in November 2026. The source code is public on GitHub.

We tried Is Software Solved?

Tested on Nov 3, 2026

We opened the site, clicked Signals and scrolled through the list without signing in. Each signal card showed a current value, its change over a year and a small trend chart: for example 408M GitHub pushes in the latest quarter (up 95% in a year), 1.5M public pull requests labelled as made by coding agents in the latest month (up 177%), and AI completing tasks that take people 17 hours at a 50% success rate. The header showed the headline score of 33% solved, and nothing asked for an account.

Is Software Solved? limitations

  • The headline score comes from one maker’s method of combining signals; it is explained on the site but is not an industry standard.
  • Some signals are new and show no trend until the next data check.
  • The API returns only the site’s own aggregates; for raw records you have to go to each source.
